Credit Karma’s mission began simply, level the playing field for people by providing them with their credit scores for free to enable them to make better informed financial decisions.

Taxes can be hard and confusing; no one looks forward to tax season. Building on our mission to make financial progress possible for everyone, moving into the tax arena was a natural  next step.

The goal of Credit Karma Tax was to change the tax preparation industry by demystifying the existing complexities and providing a simple and friendly tax filing experience so people won't ever have to pay to do their taxes again.

In the first year, Credit Karma Tax saved people tens of millions of dollars in online tax preparation fees.
